About the South Island Asparagus Growers Association

The South Island Asparagus Growers Assn (SIAGA) is a provincial organization, which represents asparagus growers by funding industry promotion and research activities. All facets of the asparagus industry (wholesale, retail, and roadside market) are represented by the South Island Asparagus Growers Assn.

Its purpose is to foster, encourage, and promote all activities to the advancement of the Asparagus Growers in the South Island of New Zealand. And to foster, encourage, and promote better cultural/harvesting and marketing practices through research and extension experts, and through variety rights and patents.

The SIAGA has created this website to give asparagus lovers in Canterbury and the South Island helpful information on farm fresh asparagus. It also provides up-to-date information for its members and the public.

Interested consumers can also inquire at their local asparagus farms. After all who knows the answers better than the asparagus growers! The farms offer information on picking storing preparing and serving asparagus.
